Rick Ball lives and works in Broken Hill, NSW. He studied at the National Art School, Sydney, graduating in 1976, and later completed a teaching Diploma in Sydney. After moving to Far West New South Wales, Ball taught art and became an artistic mentor at Menindee Central School. Ball works as an expressionist artist and sculptor and has exhibited in solo and group shows. His works are in many private and gallery collections. In 2012, he won the Broken Hill Regional Art Gallery Acquisitive Art Prize with his oil and pigment on linen work " Land Dance: Broken Hill and Darling River" "Since arriving in Broken Hill 17 years ago, a deeper and much more complex sense of time has gradually infiltrated my artwork... and I sense that this is important for us all, for what we are facing today" – Rick Ball 2019.
