- Laurence Beck was born in Forbes, New South Wales in 1942. He studied sculpture in Sydney, London and Sofia, Bulgaria. Beck was the Director and driving force for the 1993 Broken Hill Sculpture Symposium which resulted in the Living Desert sculpture park. Beck died in 2019.
