- Charlotte Balfour grew up and was educated in Oxford, England. She read English at Sussex University, taught in London schools for two years and in Cairo, Egypt for two years. In 1979 Balfour took up full time painting and in 1980 moved to live in South Australia. Balfour has travelled extensively painting in Queensland and the Northern Territory. The rural landscape and individual buildings of South Australia have been the source of inspiration for Balfour’s paintings, which combine her creative attention to detail with a distinctive and highly individual perception.
